We

try to actively exert influence
on our government with regard to its policies towards Indonesia and East
Timor;

make demands on our government
and present them in public;
-
regularly inform politicians,
the media, NGOs and other relevant and interested people and organisations
on the current situation in Indonesia and East Timor, draw their attention
to problems there and transmit to them demands of our partner organisations
for active support in their work on the protection of human rights and
the environment;
-
impart day-to-day information
via e-mail list (in part also specially selected for the respective target
group), and publish analyses on current developments;
-
publish the journal "Suara -
Zeitschrift für Indonesien und Osttimor" (in German), prepare background
reports on human rights and other issues and furthermore participate in
the publication of the West-Papua-Rundbrief;
-
offer an up-to-date information
pool on our homepage, analyse, select and compile publications of the Indonesian
and international press concerning Indonesia and East Timor;
-
organise seminars and events
on topics related to Indonesian and East Timorese politics, culture, society
etc., often with guests from the two countries;
-
invite guests from Indonesia
and East Timor and bring them into contact with politicians and representatives
of the media, NGOs and other organisations as well as with the general
public in Germany;
-
supply, on request, special
information to politicians, to representatives of the media, to NGOs, and
to individuals and organisations who's work is concerned with Indonesia
or East Timor;
-
offer background information
for journalists and arrange contacts for them in Indonesia and East Timor;
-
actively participate in discussions,
round table talks, workshops and conferences;
-
initiate and co-ordinate joint
actions and support groups through advisory counselling;
-
supply work material and information
kits on different subjects with regard to Indonesia and East Timor;
-
find and arrange for speakers
and groups who work on similar topics;
-
participate in the global NGO-network
concerning Indonesia and East Timor and regularly take part in strategy
meetings.
Target groups of our
work are - to mention some in no special order concerning priority - MPs,
political parties, the government, the churches, charity organisations,
human rights organisations, organisations working in the realm of development
or development aid, media representatives, academia, solidarity groups,
labour unions, environmental protection groups and members of the public.
